Meet the Speakers

 
Suhail Kanchwala, MDUniversity of Pennsylvania  

Dr. Kanchwala is the Chief of the Section of Plastic Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital and an Associate Professor of Surgery at Penn Medicine. As a Reconstructive Microsurgeon, the focus of Dr. Kanchwala’s practice is on the reconstruction of the breast after mastectomy using a patients’ own tissues. After training at the University of Pennsylvania and at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Kanchwala has performed over 1800 microsurgical breast reconstruction procedures. He has contributed over 80 original articles to the clinical literature and routinely lectures both nationally and internationally on advanced breast reconstruction techniques. The focus of Dr. Kanchwala’s research is on improving outcomes in reconstructive surgery for the breast. Recently, Dr. Kanchwala has pioneered new techniques which allow for a minimally invasive approach to reconstruction which enhances both patient recovery and aesthetics. The goal of this work is to eliminate the use of narcotic pain medication for patients undergoing breast reconstruction.


Lorne Rosenfield, MD, FACS - 
Peninsula Plastic Surgery 

Dr. Lorne King Rosenfield has been a board-certified plastic surgeon in private practice in Burlingame, California, since 1987. He is a Board Member in the ASAPS, ASJ, and AAAASF, a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at UCSF, Stanford, and Duke Universities, and an upcoming visiting professor for ASPS. Dr. Rosenfield has lectured and published on a wide range of aesthetic surgery topics offering innovative strategies that are at once maximally effective and safe. Dr. Rosenfield’s “Pinch” Blepharoplasty, Perioperative Surgical Checklist, and intraoperative “Google Glass” schema have all been adopted widely. He has most recently launched a new roundtable meeting called the INDIE Summit to promote demystified, unadulterated aesthetic education. Dr. Rosenfeild is presently working on a book called What Would Hippocrates Do? How Ancient Philosophy Can Mend Modern Surgery. He is the Founder of a Foundation, which delivers charity reconstructive surgery to the uninsured within his local community. Dr. Rosenfield has four children and one original wife.


Cemal Senyuva, MD - Prof. Dr. Cemal Senyuva (Turkey)

Prof. Dr. Cemal Senyuva was born in Istanbul in 1960. He graduated as a doctor from Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1983. He began his plastic surgery residency at Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in 1986 where he became a specialist in 1992 and Associate Professor in 1997. In 2007 Dr. Senyuva was a Professor of Plastic Surgery in Duzce University Medical Faculty, where he served as the head of the Plastic Surgery Department until 2011. After 2011, he started working full time in his own private clinic, Istanbul Center. Dr. Senyuva continues to work at his practice today as well as giving lectures, presentations, and leading workshops in Turkey and around the world. Dr. Senyuva is an expert and a clinical trainer of Ultrasonic (VASER) liposuction surgery, on which he organizes 3-4 workshops a year. To this day, he has trained over thirty international plastic surgeons in theoretical and hands-on advanced ultrasonic liposuction. Dr. Senyuva is also an International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) professor, leading instructional courses throughout the year for the ISAPS Educational Council as part of their visiting professorship program.  In 2007, Dr. Senyuva published his book “VASER Abdominoplasty” in English and in Turkish. Dr. Senyuva is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASPS), Société Française des Chirurgiens Esthetiques Plasticiens (SOFCEP), and ISAPS. He is a past Board Member and a current member of the Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (TPRECD), and current President of the Turkish Society of Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Senyuva currently serves as the Chair of the Turkish Plastic Surgery Foundation.
